First Minister Nicola Sturgeon meets AYF

Members of AYF met First Minister Nicola Sturgeon last week at an event in Scottish Parliament.

The opportunity for a selfie arose at Holyrood, the Scottish Parliament building, in Edinburgh. Youth Work Project Manager Graeme Johnston and two senior members of the group, Ross Kerr and Leigh Boyd, were at the Celebrating Young People In Scotland event to talk to MSPs and other attendees about the work of the charity. The photo capped an excellent event with lots of positive connections made between the AYF representatives and other attendees.

It has been a busy month for AYF, as Deputy First Minister John Swinney visited Arran Youth Foundations in August to meet with the group and hear all about the charity's work. Senior member Leigh Boyd gave an excellent presentation to Mr Swinney, who remarked on how impressed he was by Leigh's talk and by everything that AYF does for local young people.

In the same week, our Youth Work Project Manager also gave a talk at an event on mental health, held at Murrayfield Stadium. He spoke for around ten minutes about the innovative work Arran Youth Foundations does to support the wellbeing of young people on Arran.
